The Power of Intuitive Dance

Today, I participated in an "ecstatic dance" event at a local yoga studio. It was such a feel-good experience, ecstatic you could say. :) As my body moved and flowed, I felt a release of stagnant energy from various parts of my body - my hips, shoulders, back, and even my fingers. It was a rare and wonderful feeling of emptying out.

For me, dancing is not about showcasing my skills, but rather about moving energy in a profound way. While these two aspects can intertwine, in this case, they are separate. For this reason, and because some people shy away from the word “ecstatic”, I want to introduce the concept of "intuitive dance". This term feels more accessible and individualized, like “restorative yoga”. In intuitive dance, what your neighbor is doing is of little concern to you. Intuitive dance is a personal, inward journey and the body follows with movements/expressions that feel good to you.

Dancing has the incredible ability to awaken the Divine Feminine within us. Sometimes, I dance to simply move energy, while other times, I dance to enhance my intuition. It may sound like a form of meditation and indeed there are numerous benefits to this intuitive style of dancing. Personally, I believe that if I danced for 15 minutes a day, I could make it through the winter without experiencing seasonal-affected disorder. Today, while dancing, I even found myself making significant progress on important decisions I needed to make. Without a doubt, I feel dancing, in this way, heightens my intuition.

All this is to say, I highly encourage you to embrace dance, especially as the weather gets colder. Dance to release the cold, rigid energy within you. Dance to awaken the divine feminine essence. Dance to allow your intuition to flow. Dance to warm up your body and feel more flexible and free. Dance to let go and experience a sense of liberation.

I sincerely hope that intuitive dance finds its way into your life. You can try out my Intuitive Dance playlist on Spotify in the privacy of your own home. Enjoy!
