How to Move from Grief to Peace

Grief is a tricky bit*h, she comes from anywhere anytime. Grief needs to be personified, maybe even deified, she’s just so damn powerful. My most potent visit from grief was a week after my friend Sue died, I was doing laundry and literally ended up in the fetal position in front of the washer and dryer. You just can’t outrun her (grief), but I do have two suggestions to move from grief to peace. Connection is the key to both methods. One is akin to a smoke signal, and one is extending a direct line to your loved one. You may give them both a try, whichever way works for you is best. The result will be the same regardless of which method works for you, a meaningful symbol.

Love

Dial up your love volume for this person- think of great memories, think of things this person taught you, look at photos, remember them however suits you so that you feel un-forced, genuine love for them. Now move on – as best you can – about your day. This practice clarifies and opens your intuitive channels, sending out a smoke signal to your deceased loved one. As your day progresses be aware of anything out of the ordinary for you: seeing orbs of light, “hearing” songs or words that make you think of them, feeling their presence, smelling their smells (cigars, perfume), or a sense of knowing that they are near you. Once this connection is initiated you will enjoy it again and again.

Ask

You don’t need to conduct any extraordinary séance or ritual to ask. You can be driving in your car or taking a shower and in that moment simply ask your loved one to tell/show/ help you to feel a symbol of connection. Some popular symbols are hummingbirds, feathers, number sequences, and tech interferences. I recently had a client whose dad showed us an ice cream cone with soft serve vanilla on top and she explained to me that was what they used to do together when she was young. She felt connected to him then and now with the symbol he was showing me (her). If you don’t receive a message instantly -literally before you even finish asking the question - then ask again when you’re making dinner or walking the dog. Just keep asking in different environments. You might be more receptive at certain times or in certain places.  Asking for communication is a great way to engage, as with humans so with spirit!

Based on my experience, communication from the other side is repetitive. For example, my friend Sue frequently pushed me from behind (on my scapulas) it was her way of telling me to “go”, my dad played me a song from 1982 (over and over), and my mother-in-law appeared in a specific, playful color. I share my experiences to de-mystify and simplify communication with the other side. You really aren’t looking to engage in a long conversation, you are looking for connection. A connection that reminds you that the body is a house for the soul, when the body is gone, the soul is still connected to you and you are deeply loved, seen, and held. Connect using either of these methods to move from grief to peace. If you’d like to share your experience, or the symbol you received, or need assistance with mediumship, I’d love to hear from you.

Wishing you peace.
